I was recently reminded of this picture/situation from a friend of mine and it sure brought a smile to my face. This is from my little sister Kristine's wedding in March. I seriously was trying to hide when they started the bouquet toss because I DID NOT want to be a participant. Kristine is younger than me and all so everyone really wanted me to catch the bouquet especially my brother in law Nick. Thanks for taking me out of hiding and getting on the microphone and yelling my name until I would participate. Awesome. But just as an FYI, I have actually caught 5 bouquets in the last 2 years and I have not seen an increase in my dating life let alone a marriage proposal. But once I was up there, I meant business. Like hell was I going to let anyone else get the bouquet after being forced up there. I meant business....and so did my 7 year old niece....I had the height part down, and had it not hit the ceiling making it hit the ground I can guarantee a different outcome. Plus, I guess Hallie is a little scrappier than I am. Look at the crowd, Shawna can't believe what is happening before her eyes. So really I don't know what is more sad in this situation:
1-That I was willing to risk my niece Hallies' life by tackling her to get the bouquet
2-That this little scrappy 7 year old was able to wrestle it away from my death grip
or 3-That she came up to me afterwards and insisted I take the bouquet and saying....you NEED it more than me Aunt Kate.
Awesome...but guess what. I have got the bouquet, so that makes an even 6.

Bless Hallie's sweet little heart! I didn't know that she made you take it back. She is the most thoughtful 7 year old to ever live.
here is a fact about me. I HAVE NEVER CAUGHT A BOUQUET. Ever. I have had a few hit me in the chest and i just let them fall to the floor which is actually more embarrassing than just catching it.
I wish I would have been there for this part! Hilarious. Maybe 6 can be your lucky number :)
Hehehe... I love this picture. I guess it was my fault for throwing it all weird. My mistake. Better luck at my next wedding (according to Jordan's grandmother, my dress will still be in good enough shape for my next wedding. good thing, eh?)
Maybe you should try harder Katerade.
How did I miss that? I remember Hallie catching the bouquet, but I did not see the brawl on the floor! At least it was all in the family!
Yeah I don't remember the brawl on the floor! So funny and so sweet that she gave it to you in the end. I think I was stuck in the corner talking to the Hoen's :)
How did I miss this?! Too, too, funny, and great pic! Oh Hallie!
It was even better in person. Way to scrap Katie! Bless Hallie for giving it to you in the end, although looks like she won it fair and square!
Hilarious! I really am thinking about submitting you for the next season of the "Bachelorette"...you in???
How you are single is beyond me?!?
Hi Katie-
I don't know if you remember me, but I'm a friend of Ben and Natalie's and your old math teacher...
Anyway...I think your blog is so funny! You are a great writer. I laughed out loud when I read this post. Thanks for sharing. It reminded me of an idea my bro-in-law had to add some fun to the after-reception-tosses. Hope you don't mind me taking a peek at your life... it looks like you are having a great time! (I made my sister read the "gorge" post... we laughed and laughed!)
